What God is doing?

From Secularism to Followers of Jesus

When we arrived in Chișinău, the capital of Moldova, at the start of the school year, we quickly realized that nearly one-third of the population are students. Yet, despite the youth and energy filling the city, most young adults described themselves as secular. Moldova’s history helps explain why. After more than 70 years under communist rule, the nation still carries deep wounds—hopelessness, poverty, and limited access to the Gospel—even after over three decades of independence.

By the grace of God, we were able to open the Hope Community Center in downtown Chișinău. This space became a place of belonging where young adults were drawn through activities, shared meals, and genuine relationships. As trust grew, discipleship followed naturally through small groups and one-on-one conversations, allowing many to encounter Jesus for the first time.

Today, the Hope Community Center is open six days a week and welcomes around 180–200 people every week. Through our feeding program, we provide three hot meals weekly along with snacks and care that meet both physical and spiritual needs. Each semester, we equip 10–15 leaders and train about 30 volunteers, and as lives have been transformed, Genesis Church Chișinău was planted—made up of young people who once identified as secular and now follow Jesus.

Leading a secular person to Christ often takes longer than we imagine and requires perseverance, faith, and prayer. We are deeply grateful for the partners who continue to pray and support this work, and for every young adult in Moldova who is still on the journey toward Jesus. What God is doing here is real, lasting, and only the beginning.

Morogoro

At the heart of Morogoro, the Acts of Life Neurorecovery Center is a place where love meets action, and hope becomes reality for children with disabilities and their families. Every month, we care for around 93 children living with cerebral palsy and other neurological conditions, walking with them and their families on a journey of healing and restoration.

Our work begins with specialized neurorehabilitation, helping children gain strength, mobility, and independence. Alongside this, we offer equine therapy – a powerful and joyful moment where children experience therapy on horseback, improving posture, balance, and confidence while connecting with God’s creation.

But our care extends beyond the child. We believe that the strength of a family is vital for the healing journey. That is why we empower mothers through sewing courses and literacy classes. Learning to read and write is more than education – it is a powerful key that unlocks dignity, opportunity, and a future full of possibility.

We also provide assistive devices to children in need, such as adapted chairs, stand frames, and wheelchairs. These tools are life-changing, allowing children to sit, stand, move, and participate more fully in daily life.

Every therapy session, every class, and every device given is not only practical help – it is a demonstration of the love of Jesus to families who often feel forgotten. Our mission is simple yet profound: to restore dignity, bring hope, and reflect the heart of God to those most in need.
